Current Favourite Beauty Items!

HELLO THERE MY BLOG KITTENS! Could someone please tell me where did July go? I feel like we were in fast forward throughout the entire month and now, we've reached August. This indicates  two things: we are heading closer to December 21, 2012 (I am only messing around. I don't actually believe that the world is going to end.........) and we're getting old! All the pessimistic thinking aside, I am here to inform you guys about my favourite beauty products in the recent months. Please note: I am a sixteen year old (17 IN EXACTLY A MONTH. WOW.) who occasionally wears makeup. When I say "occasionally", I mean once in a blue moon at school or sometimes when I go out on the weekends. I don't think monthly favourites would be all that fascinating since it'll probably be the same products every. single. month. Hence why this post is called current favourite beauty items
From Left to Right, Top to Bottom: Illamasqua Cream Blusher in "Crush", Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil, Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoos 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in "Bad to the Bronze" and "Bold Gold", OPI Nail Polish in "Pamplona Purple", Maybelline Full 'N Soft Waterproof Mascara in "Soft Black", Smith's Rosebud Salve, Benefit Brows A-Go-Go Brow & Eye Shaping Kit, Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in "Blackest Black", John Frieda Original Formula Hair Serum, Korres Lip Butter in "Quince", Steamcream in "Con Amore" tin.
Illamasqua Cream Blusher in "Crush" (buy here)
This was one of my few EOFYS (End of Financial Year Sale) purchases and by far one of my favourites. Me and my friend were window shopping at Pitt Street Myer and we saw a sign at the Illamasqua counter saying 40% off and we were hyperventilating. I swatched almost every sale item and decided to pick up this blush. It is so pretty and super pigmented so I have been having trouble in putting the right amount on my cheeks. However, one of the Illamasqua ladies suggested to wear it as a lip stain so i've been wearing it as a stain instead of as a blush.

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil (buy here)
You could never go wrong with tea tree oil. Its directions states "Apply to minor cuts, burns, abrasions, pimples, boils, bites and stings" so basically, it is suitable for any irritations. I've been dabbing a little bit of the oil onto my pimples using a cotton swab. I notice that there tend to be less redness around the infected areas and the more insignificant pimples are almost gone. I am also obsessed with the scent. When I get a pimple in my cupid's bow area between my nose and lip, the tea tree oil wafts up my nose and it is the most wonderful thing ever.

Maybelline Eyestudio Color Tattoos 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in "Bad to the Bronze" and "Bold Gold"
Finally they've reached the shores of Australia! I read blogs and watch youtube videos of people constantly raving about how awesome these products are and all I could do was go and search on eBay for reasonable shipping fees on this product. When I saw them at Priceline and they were on sale, I got the two most wearable colours which was for me, the gold and the bronze. Were they worth the hype?? They definitely were! They probably don't last 24HR like it says on the package but makeup should 't be worn for more than 12 hours anyway! It can be easily applied to the eyelids with fingertips because of its cream consistency and its also easily blendable and long lasting!

Benefit Brows A-Go-Go Brow & Eye Shaping Kit (buy here)
I'll have to admit that I didn't buy this product and wouldn't have bought it with my own money if I had the choice. Australia's makeup prices are insane so if you do end up getting it, buy it from the official Benefit website as it has free shipping with any $125+ order! My mum got this for her birthday and since then, she's gotten her eyebrows tattooed so she gave it to me. I was never really a brow person but I have come to realise how important they are in framing a face. This kit comes with two brow shaping powders in light and dark, brow shaping wax, black eyeliner, cream eye brightener, brow highlighter powder, tweezers and a brush. It comes with a lesson booklet to inform you where everything goes and its pretty easy to apply so I definitely recommend it!

Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in "Blackest Black"
I felt like the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner was one of the first gel eyeliners too hit the pharmacies or "drugstores" in Australia. I actually don't use another brush with it because I feel like the brush provided is good enough. It is super long lasting and easy to apply as the package says. However, I do have oily eyelids and the product tends to smudge unless I place some black eyeshadow on top of it. Other then that, top product! :)

John Frieda Original Formula Hair Serum
I've never really been a hair product person but ever since I got my hair permanently straightened at the beginning of the year, my hair has been a frizzy freakshow. I have heard about this serum before so when I saw that it was on sale at Priceline, I decided to grab one to try it out and it is a miracle product. I don't know if all serums work this way as it is my first serum but wow, my frizz disappears almost instantly and it leaves my hair feeling so soft. I love it!
OPI Nail Polish in "Pamplona Purple"
Its hard to pick a nail favourite as I do tend to change it up at least once a week but one colour that I tend to gravitate towards is purple. This purple is the perfect shade for me, especially in the winter because I do like my pinks but they are too VAVOOM in Winter so this is probably the best fuchsia-ry purple available on the market. Like all OPI nail polishes, the thicker brush makes the application process extremely quick and it dries quite quickly compared to other nail polish brands.

Maybelline Full N' Soft Waterproof Mascara in "Soft Black"
I am currently up to my third tube of this mascara. What can I say? I love it! As I mentioned earlier, I rarely wear makeup and when I do, I prefer to wear a more natural look and this mascara is perfect for the look that i'm trying to achieve. As it says in its name, it makes my lashes look full but they are still incredibly soft and it is also good for holding up curls. I am probably going to keep repurchasing this mascara until a nicer one comes along (which I doubt).

Smith's Rosebud Salve (buy here)
Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment and Vaseline has just met its match. I tend to use this product on my lips but may also be used to relieve skin, diaper rash, blemishes, detergent burns, and rough cuticles. It is such a multipurpose product and it also has a soft rosy scent. The packaging is also cute and "old school" looking which makes the product five times as awesome!

Korres Lip Butter in Quince (buy here)
This is hyped up all over blogger/youtube universe and I must say, it is definitely worth the hype. I put this on every morning before I head to school and it gives my lips a pinky tint that makes my entire face look awake. Unlike other lip tints, this is a lip butter so it hydrates the lips when you apply it. You can basically kill two birds with one stone (can someone please invent a better idiom? this one is pretty vulgar)!!

Steamcream in "Con Amore" Tin (buy here)
Finally, my favourite moisturiser for the past months. The concept of this is using steam to fuse natural ingredients together to hydrate the skin in a lightweight cream. It has a soft lavender scent so if you have super sensitive skin, this product won't be suitable to you. Also, this product comes in a range of cute tins. They have recently released its "Iconic London" line and the designs are brilliant. I want to collect them all!

Thank you for visiting my blog :). Having just started, everyone has been super lovely and supportive. This is also the first time that i've taken photos for this blog so I hope that they weren't too tragic. Think of it this way: I can only improve over time. LOVE YOU GUYS!!
